Serial
Just some quick tidbits on your serial connection
Your serial adapter must be set to 5v. 3.3v will not work for TX to the board
You have several options when it comes to serial comms.
Just to name a few. TLDR, I prefer minicom if I am going to have to paste anything through the serial connection. And screen for working from two computers.
Screen
Con: does not play well with the scroll wheel on your mouse. This will fuck up your session. Pro: You can attach multiple sessions to a single terminal. This is useful for me where I have one computer connected to a device, but I want to sit at another computer, while I multi-task. I can ssh into the other computer and attach to the running screen session.
e.g: screen -r -x openwrt, assuming I have named the screen session with screen -S openwrt /dev/ttyUSB0 115200
Minicom
Pros: Doesn’t freak out when you scroll the mouse wheel. Allows you to paste text cleanly with the character tx delay setting.
e.g.: Ctrl+A, T, F, 3
